Our Vision & Mission
The purpose of our non-profit association is the support of projects in developing and emerging countries (according to OECD classification), which promote the conversion from conventional to certified organic farming and therefore contribute to healthy nutrition and nature conservation while preserving biodiversity. In addition it creates socio-economic incentives for a holistic sustainable development and supports reaching the Sustainable Developing goals of the UN.
Create Win-Win-Situations
Our approach is the principle of “help for help-yourself”. In concrete terms, this consists of financing of training courses on organic farming and aspects such as processing hygiene, which are essential aspects for export. Since all organic agricultural products for imports must be certified, the betterECO Foundation e.V. additionally partially invests in the first organic certification for the selected projects.
Investitions in the Future
Help to help! Financial support is made in the form of a partial grant, so that entrepreneurial action and thus the sustainability of the projects is promoted. From the organic certification onwards, the cooperatives are usually able to manage and finance all further developments themselves, through generating their own income.

APPLICATION

Criteria
Basic principles and criteria for an application of a cooperative/project for funding by betterECO Foundation e.V.
- women groups more than 200 women
- farmers’ cooperative more than 200 small farmers
- minimum size >200 ha cultivated area
- coherent areas of the cooperative/project
- openness to conversion to organic farming (EC 834/2007)
- cultivation interesting products for the European market (partial export)
- implementation of appropriate crop rotation (soil protection)
- willingness to introduce and operate a HACCP system
- readiness for further training with regard to the project objectives
- obligation to protect nature, resources and species
- obligation to respect human rights
- commitment to honesty towards partners and members
- complete formular of questions regarding the project (will be send on request)

As betterECO-Foundation e. V. we are dependent on your support to multiply the positive effect. Your donations will be used exclusively for the goals of betterECO-Foundation e. V. The association is selfless and pursues exclusively charitable purposes. We are looking forward to your donation, your membership or your honorary support!
Donations
The betterECO Foundation e.V. collects donations to allocate them to selected projects. From an amount of Euro 30 we issue a donation receipt.
Membership
If you want to support our work permanently, we would be very pleased to receive your membership. The annual membership fee is at least Euro 50, therefore please send us the completed membership application either by e-mail to info@betterecofoundation.org or by post to bettereco Foundation e.V., Attendorner Weg 28, in 13507 Berlin. As a member you will receive our annual report free of charge.
